Morningstar’s Logical Information Machines, Inc. (LIM) group seeks a Systems Administrator specializing in Linux/UNIX to join our Systems Administration team. LIM serves the financial, investment, and energy communities with software and financial databases, used primarily by day traders and institutional investors. Our products include Market Information Machine (MIM), a patented historical analysis tool that provides instant access to decades of tick data for thousands of stocks, futures, energy, monetary, and economic indicators. This position may require up to 15% travel and is based in our Austin, Texas office.
This full-time position is a day shift. Working other shifts and being on-call will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with the management and support of Unix/Linux servers that run LIM’s custom services.
• Proficient technical skills around the Linux/UNIX operating system
• Follow guides to implement best practices, develop efficiencies, improve department’s scalability.
• Must have the ability to work in a client facing, fast paced environment with minimal supervision and major responsibility.
• Knowledge of IT environments, technologies, system hosting infrastructure and their platforms is required.
• You will work very closely with other groups to resolve problems, deploy and release new products and create solutions to provide world class service, solutions and support.
REQUIRED SKILLS – JR UNIX/LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
• 3-5 years Linux/Unix experience.
• Must possess exceptional customer service, organizational, written & verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn custom applications, support, and troubleshoot.
• OS – Solaris, Linux (Redhat/Centos)
• Basic knowledge of networking – DNS, Sendmail, Solaris Zones, XenServer, VMWare, FTP, HTTP
• Ability to perform Hardware - Installation and Troubleshooting
• Basic scripting language experience (execute & modify) – Perl and shell.
• Excellent interpersonal and time-management skills
• High degree of self-motivation
• The ability to adapt quickly to new tasks
• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
